The Piglet Bag was originally conceived as a costume prop for the opera play Le Baron Tzigane, a production by Grand Theatre de Genève.

The play sees the main character, Sandòr Barinkay, maneuvering in order to repossess the castle once owned by his father but later occupied by a pig farmer and his family. This latter element inspired part of the costume designs, which the bag was meant to accompany. Unfortunately the piglet bag was discarded from the final costumes arrangement, but it found a new home in London, where it was sold to a private client.
